The challenge

The right rings, missing from the searches that sell them

Beverly Diamonds sells exactly what high-intent buyers type into Google. But “real diamond rings” and “lab grown engagement ring” are held by national brands with large content teams and years of links. A product grid with a one-line title doesn’t compete in those results.

  • “Diamond bracelets for women” (2,900 US searches a month) outside the top 100
  • “Lab produced diamonds rings” (22,200 a month) outside the top 100
  • “Real diamond rings” at 60, “diamond women engagement rings” at 76
  • No pages for buyers shopping by carat weight

Diagnosis

Why Google wasn’t ranking pages the store clearly deserved

The audit found two layers. The technical layer was routine to fix. The structural layer decided the rankings.

  1. 1

    Collections without a clear job

Titles and metas were missing, duplicated or generic, and several pages had no H1. When ten collections say the same thing, Google can’t tell which one should rank for “real diamond rings”, so none of them does.

  2. 2

    No pages for carat-led searches

Engagement ring buyers search by carat weight. Indexing thousands of filter URLs is the wrong answer. A few deliberate sub-collections with their own copy are the right one.

  3. 3

    Crawl and hygiene drag

Underscores in URLs, broken links and duplicate titles. None is dramatic on its own. Together they slow crawling and blur relevance on every page.

  4. 4

    Product images Google couldn’t read

No alt text on a catalog where the image is the product. That’s lost context for image search and for shoppers using screen readers.

The approach

Collections first, then the cleanup, then a few well-aimed links

Links pointed at weak collections are wasted, so the pages came first. The carat sub-collections gave ring buyers a page for the exact search they type.

  • 23 collection pages rebuilt, each with one target search, one H1, buyer-focused intro copy and links to neighbor collections
  • 1, 2 and 3 carat sub-collections, indexable, with their own copy, one click from the parent ring collection
  • Technical fixes: underscore URLs redirected, titles, metas and missing H1s rewritten, alt text added, broken links repaired
  • PageSpeed Insights lab score of 100/100 at report time
  • Off-page: 2 contextual backlinks, 3 guest posts, 2 link insertions and 30 Pinterest pins, all pointed at selling collections
  • Engagement rings

    • Natural diamond engagement ringspriority

      • 1 carat engagement ringspriority
      • 2 carat engagement ringspriority

What the February 2026 report recorded

Google Search Console, last 28 days against the previous 28. Impressions tripled and average position nearly halved. Clicks held level because most new rankings entered at positions 10 to 20, where clicks arrive later, and AI Overviews answer part of many diamond research queries on the results page.

Our rings were as good as anything the big brands sell, but Google barely showed them. Once the collections were rebuilt and the carat pages went live, we started appearing for searches like real diamond rings and diamond bracelets for women, and our impressions tripled in a month.

What this means for your store

What’s next for Beverly Diamonds, and what other diamond stores can take from it

The February report shows Google now treats these collections as relevant. The next stage is moving them from page two onto page one, where clicks follow.

01

Next: push page two onto page one

“Real diamond rings” at 18, “diamond bracelets for women” at 16 and “moissanite wedding sets” at 15 are the shortest path to more clicks. They get internal links from the strongest pages, deeper buyer copy and links aimed at each one.

02

Carat pages are where ring buyers decide

Buyers who type a carat weight are close to purchase. Build those sub-collections before anything else in bridal, and build them months ahead of proposal season.

03

Impressions lead, clicks follow position

A collection climbing from outside the top 100 to 16 earns impressions long before it earns clicks. Clicks held at 780 because most new rankings sit at 10 to 20 and AI Overviews answer part of many diamond queries. Judge early SEO on impressions and position for an agreed keyword set.

04

Fewer links, better aimed

Seven placements pointed at the collections that sell. Where a link points matters more than how many you buy. Our link building work follows the same rule.
