SEO For Jewelry home

The buyer

Designer jewelry is bought by people who already know the name, or are about to learn it

The follower saw your earrings on an editor’s feed, a friend or a red carpet. They search your brand name, often misspelled, sometimes with the piece: “[brand] pearl hoops”. Whoever ranks first gets the order, and too often that’s a stockist or a marketplace reseller.

The style searcher doesn’t know you yet. They type “sculptural gold earrings”, “chunky signet ring women” or “modern pearl necklace designer”. Your collection names mean nothing to them, so the page has to speak in their words.

The retail buyer from a boutique or department store checks your site before a trade show or a showroom appointment. They look for a wholesale page, a line sheet and a contact who answers.

One site serves all three when brand pages, style collections and trade pages each have a clear job.

What is designer jewelry SEO?

Making an independent jewelry brand’s own site the first result for its name and products, ranking its collections for the style searches new buyers make, and converting press coverage into links that keep working.

What Google shows

Search your own product name and count how many results aren’t yours

For a growing designer, a product search often returns a stockist, a marketplace reseller and an old press piece before the brand’s own page. Each one takes the order, the margin or the customer relationship.

  • Stockists rank with your product names, your photos and their stronger domain
  • Resellers on marketplaces appear in Shopping with your brand in the title
  • Old press articles rank for the collection name long after the pieces sold out
  • AI assistants describe your brand from whatever sources agree with each other, accurate or not

The fix is rarely more content. It’s making your page the obvious source: fuller copy than stockists use, original photography, Product markup with your brand, a clean Merchant Center feed and stockists linking back to you. Saints Gold, an online gold jewelry brand we work with, had branded results showing an “all items page 2” URL and contact pages. Cleaning up the branded results page was part of month one.

What it costs you

Four complaints we hear from independent designers

Each has a mechanism, and each mechanism has a fix that doesn’t need a bigger ad budget.

“A boutique ranks above us for our own earrings.”

Stockists publish your product names with their domain strength behind them, and Google can’t tell which site is the source. Every order that goes through them costs you the wholesale margin and the customer’s email.

Ecommerce SEO

“We were in a big gift guide and traffic vanished a week later.”

The feature linked to the homepage, or to nothing. The link that compounds is the one pointing at the collection that was featured. We ask for it at the time and reclaim missing links afterwards.

Link building

“Our collections have names, and nobody searches them.”

“The Tide Collection” tells Google nothing. Keep the name, then pair it with what the pieces are: “Tide: sculptural gold earrings and cuffs”. The title, H1 and intro carry the descriptor.

Content SEO

“Wholesale and retail pages keep tripping over each other.”

A trade page priced at wholesale ranks for the product name, or a retail page answers a buyer’s sourcing search. Separate sections with separate intent fix both, and the trade portal stays out of the index.

A Knowledge Panel is Google’s decision. Consistent facts across your site, profiles and press make it more likely; nobody can guarantee one.

Keep the collection story, and give Google the product words beside it

Designers think in collections and seasons. Buyers search by piece, metal and style. The catalog needs both layers pointing at the same products.

  • Named collection pages keep their story and add a descriptive H1 and intro
  • Evergreen style collections, such as gold signet rings or pearl earrings, gather pieces across seasons
  • Retired collections stay live as archive pages or redirect to their closest successor
  • A designer page with your training, process and studio, written in the first person
  • A press page linking each feature to the pieces it covered

Style collections carry most non-branded traffic because they keep earning links and age well. Seasonal drops get their moment through email and social, then feed the style pages instead of dying with the season. The method is in our collection page SEO guide.

Authority

Turning press, collaborations and stockists into rankings

Designer brands get more editorial attention than most jewelry businesses. Most of it is lost to search because nobody asks for the link or points it at the right page.

01

Press with a destination

Every pitch and sample request goes out with the exact product URL. When an editor features the piece, the link lands on the collection that can rank, not the homepage.

02

Link reclamation

We find past features that mention your brand without linking and ask for the link. For an established designer this is often the fastest authority available. Our link building service covers the full program.

03

Stockist kit

Approved product copy, photography and a request for a link back to your brand page. Stockists sell more with good assets, and you stop competing with your own text.

04

Entity consistency

One brand name, one designer name, one founding story across your site, social profiles, press bios and Organization markup. This is what Google and AI assistants use to connect your name to your work. See our AI search optimization.

Launch days

A new collection should launch with its search pages already built

Most designers announce a collection on Instagram and add the product pages the same morning. Search needs those pages indexed and linked before the press and email traffic arrives.

  • Collection page live and linked from navigation a few weeks before launch, with a waitlist if pieces aren’t ready
  • Product pages written with the descriptor words, metal and dimensions, not only the piece name
  • Press kit and sample cards carrying the final product URLs
  • Merchant Center feed updated the day stock goes live
  • Launch traffic, waitlist sign-ups and first orders tagged so the report shows what each channel brought

When Gem Jewelers Co. moved to a new Shopify theme in 2026, all 876 URLs were preserved under SEO-safe migration rules: 52 collections, 711 products, 92 posts. Designers who refresh their site with each season need the same discipline, or every redesign resets the brand’s rankings.

Designer jewelry SEO questions

The stockist often has a stronger domain and uses your exact product names and copy. Google sees two similar pages and picks the stronger site. Fuller copy on your page, original photography, Product markup and a link back from the stockist usually reverse it.

No. Keep the names; they’re part of the brand. Add a descriptor to the title, H1 and intro so Google and new buyers know what the pieces are, then build evergreen style collections for the searches people type.

Send the product URL with every pitch and sample, ask for it when a feature is confirmed, and follow up on past features that mention you without a link. Links to the featured collection do far more than a homepage link.

The public wholesale page, yes: retail buyers search for it. Trade price lists and the login portal, no. They belong behind a login and out of the index so they don’t compete with your retail product pages.

Keep the page live as an archive with links to current pieces, or redirect it to the closest style collection. Deleting it throws away the press links and rankings it earned.

It does two jobs. It answers searches for the designer’s name, and it gives Google and AI assistants a clear source for who makes the work. Write it in the first person with training, process and studio location.

Branded search ads are worth testing when stockists or resellers bid on your name. For style searches, Shopping ads work once the feed is clean. See Google Ads for jewelers. Brands that make to order should read our custom jewelry page.

Most designer brands we see sell on Shopify; some run lookbooks on Webflow with a separate store. The platform matters less than clean collection structure and one canonical domain. Smaller studios that also sell on Etsy should read our handmade jewelry page.
